Toxic epidermal necrolysis?like acute cutaneous graft?versus?host disease in a stem cell recipient – a diagnostic dilemma

چکیده

A 57-year-old woman with angioimmunoblastic lymphoma received allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (aHCT) after complete remission under 4th -line chemotherapy. One month aHCT, PET-scan showed progress of the lymphoma. Therefore, immunosuppressants (including mycophenolate mofetil and cyclosporine A) were reduced to enhance graft versus tumor reaction. An anti-infective prophylaxis cotrimoxazol (trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole) was established.

Tumefactive Fibroinflammatory Lesion: A Diagnostic Dilemma

Tumefactive fibroinflammatory lesions (TFLs) are rare idiopathic benign fibrosclerosing lesions that clinically simulate a malignancy. TFLs are seen more frequently in males between 10 and 74 years of age. The usual site of involvement is the head and neck region, but rarely the extremities may be involved. Coexisting fibrosclerotic processes have been reported including retroperitoneal fibrosi...

Nodular Cystic Basal Cell Carcinoma of the Trunk: a Diagnostic Dilemma in an Unsuspecting Youth

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) commonly affects the elderly and is mostly confined to the head and neck region. Only 10% of all cases occur on the trunk. We presented a case of bullous lesion on the abdomen in a young male, initially diagnosed by clinicians as a vascular nevus. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry (IHC) revealed it to be Nodular cystic variant of BCC. This rare va...

Acute myocarditis: a diagnostic dilemma.

Myocarditis, an inflammatory process affecting the myocardium, may be caused by any bacterial, viral, rickettsial, mycotic, or parasitic organism. In Europe and in the United States, however, most cases of acute myocarditis seem to be caused by viruses. It is often difficult to prove the viral aetiology in cases of myocarditis and such cases are often referred to as idiopathic myocarditis. The ...

Toxic epidermal necrolysis-like acute cutaneous lupus erythematosus.

The term "Acute Syndrome of Apoptotic Pan-Epidermolysis" (ASAP) designs clinical entities characterized by massive cleavage of the epidermis resulting from hyperacute epidermal basal cell apoptotic injury. It can be seen typically in classic toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), but occasionally occurs in non-drug-induced entities called "TEN-like" diseases (e.g., lupus erythematosus (LE), acute gr...
